- Microsoft - largest software company
in the world
- Borland - some years ago renamed to
Inprise, but everyone remembered "borland"
- GNU - for all who seek software AND the
source code
- Netscape - software company, who
developed the navigator.
Operating Systems
- Microsoft - also the largest
company in selling operating systems
- Linux.org - a central node, where
source code, packages, kernel and patched around linux are collected
- SuSE - largest company in collecting and
developing of linux distributions in germany. They also have linux
distributions for platforms different from intel/x86.
- QNX - a Unix-derivative as real-time
operating system, which can boot from a single diskette with a web browser
- SCO - before Linux market leader in Unix
on at architecture (former releases also ran on 80286-processors - only 8088
was never supported..)
